A Stacked Deck

I hardly thought it possible, but Paul Goldman and Mark J Rozell at Politico have uncovered yet another way in which the 14th Amendment is destroying America. History repeating again as farce, that worst of all Amendments has reenacted the Three Fifths Compromise in reverse: allowing illegal immigrants to count in apportioning seats in the House and Electoral College. These states, being leftist, will allow in more illegals and gain even more illicit power allowing them to finalize their election of a new American people.

It should be clear by now that the game is rigged. You cannot win a game against someone willing to cheat at every turn. With each move, they gain in the margins, until their advantage is overwhelming. What do you do when you can no longer win the game? The answer, of course, is to stop playing.

Society is a game, a series of ritualized interactions. But games and rituals can changed, their seeming permanence only lasting as long as their rules work for the players. Just how long do you think Americans will play a losing hand?

Philadelphia and Laodicea

Today, it behooves us all to recognize a hero of the Faith. In the face of the full power of the State, Kim Davis, County Clerk of Rowan, Kentucky chose prison over betraying her Lord. While she is not the first to suffer for Christ at the hands of the infidels who rule this country, as presidential candidate, former Governor, and Fox News host Mike Huckabee has noted, this is a major step forward towards the "criminalization of Christianity in this country." And while her persecution is certainly not comforting, we can glory in the courage and determination that this woman has shown in its face. There are yet "[...]a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes[...]" (Revelation 3:4)

And in the face of this, the crowd chanted "Love won! Love won!" It certainly did. Through the love of Jesus, an imperfect woman (the linked article mentions that she is on her fourth husband) sacrificed her freedom for the Truth. Whatever she might have done in the past, whatever fears she might have had in the present, she was willing to persevere.

Tear Down the Laws to Get at the Devil

The great humiliation of Hillary Clinton continues apace, with the American adversarial court system getting caught in the crossfire. It has been obvious for some time that Senator Clinton, despite all the talk of inevitability, would not be getting the Democratic nod. The usual impregnable media shield that normally protects liberals has been notably absent from her these days. While apologies were, and still are made for her husband, Hillary's misdeeds are offered with far less spin than normal. It is quite clear that the former Secretary of State is highly disliked, and not just from the right.

Law and its Lack

We tend to imagine that the Presence of God would make a place strange, that the laws of nature would break down and the world would be undone. Maybe we're wrong. Maybe the paranormal, the strange, occur more when God is rejected

God wrote the law and set its boundaries. He called the universe, which He had so ordered, good. Satan, on the other hand, tried to cast doubt on this law from the very beginning. (Genesis 3:5) By causing man to fall, he managed to stain creation's perfection, and inched his claws through the door to our world.

So, in turn, is our era one in which man rejects Law: in so doing opening the gate to the abyss. Could even the worshipers of Molech imagine a horror such as this? Throughout the developed world the children of men hide, either physically or pharmaceutically rather than face the nightmare their lives have become. As the works of Lovecraft predicted, the absence of this universe's laws does not bring freedom, but madness.

We must reject rebellion. We must adhere to law. Without it, we are little more than playthings for what lies outside it.

"What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil? ... And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you – where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws from coast to coast, Man's laws, not God's, and if you cut them down – and you're just the man to do it – do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then?"

Cowardice

Apparently both the First and Second Amendments no longer apply so long as its utilization is "insensitive." Yes folks, so long as someone "feels threatened," expulsion is on the table. Does that sound like the "Home of Brave" to you?

Now it is true that the US Supreme Court held in San Antonio Independent School Dist. v. Rodriguez  that, "Public education is not a "right" granted to individuals by the Constitution." (Plyler v. Doe, 457 US 202 at 221) Yet, as Brown v. Board of Education states, "Such an opportunity, where the state has undertaken to provide it, is a right which must be made available to all on equal terms." (347 US 483 at 493) As such, even without a positive right to an education, we can still see that educational access is an issue that the Supreme Court doesn't hold lightly.
